What are enlarged pores? Why isn’t it a “didn’t wash your face well enough” problem?
Enlarged Pores refers to visibly Dilation of the pilosebaceous opening, typically appearing on the T-zone, nasal alae, and cheeks where sebaceous gland density is high. It is not “dirt buildup” and not “inadequate cleansing” — it is excess sebum production + abnormal follicular keratinization + collagen loss A structural problem caused by these three factors combined. Peel-off masks, aggressive cleansing, and astringent toners cannot truly shrink pores — they only worsen barrier damage.
Why doesn’t washing more help?
Pore size is determined by Follicular and dermal structure Determined by structure, not surface dirt. Over-cleansing damages the lipid barrier → skin reflexively produces more oil → pores enlarge further.
Why are pore issues more visible in Asian skin?

Why do pores become “teardrop-shaped” after age 30?

Five Causes of Enlarged Pores — It’s Not Just About Oil
Clinically, enlarged pores are almost never caused by a single factor — they result from multiple overlapping mechanisms. During consultation, our physician systematically screens for the following five.
